Robert Lunde, Assistant Professor of Statistics and Data Science, has been awarded a new research grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF). The award will support his work on statistical inference for exchangeable network models.
In many areas of science, researchers now have unprecedented access to relational data—information that describes how entities are connected or interact. In biology, for example, scientists study complex structures such as metabolic networks, gene regulatory networks, brain connectivity maps, and ecological networks. With this explosion of data comes a growing need for robust statistical tools that can turn these intricate patterns into reliable insights. Professor Lunde aims to develop broadly applicable methods for analyzing such network data, enabling sound and trustworthy inference across diverse applications.
Professor Lunde obtained his PhD from Carnegie Mellon University in 2018. He joined WashU as Assistant Professor in 2022.
Congratulations to Robert on receiving this new NSF award!
